An Umbrella company allows contractors to have the benefit of using a PAYE based pay system, and saves the hassle and paperwork involved in having to set up as self employed or a limited company. One of the benefits of using an Umbrella solution is the ability to claim legitimate business expenses on a weekly basis to reduce your taxable income. Another benefit of using Orbital is that we provide an explainable and legitimate approach to the system making sure that we are always working within HMRC guidelines and not promoting bad advice or promises we cannot keep. One common example of bad practice that you may see advertised by some operators is the promise of 85% or more retention of your income. Although it is possible to increase net pay through claiming expenses, it is virtually impossible to achieve the 85% retention in a legitimate manner and this should alert you to the possibility of fraudulent expense claims to boost take home pay. We therefore ensure that all expense claims are 100% wholly incurred and that you are paid in a correct and legal way.
The Umbrella system covers pretty much any industry e.g. construction, engineering, telecoms, IT, medical, teaching, oil & petrochemical, HGV driving etc.

The Umbrella system works by allowing you to have the benefits of a normal PAYE payroll but with the advantage of being able to claim legitimate business expenses on a weekly basis.
